YOU Can Help the People in Your Community Experience Better Health and a More Vibrant Life
Good health doesn’t start with a trip to the doctor's office.Â
It starts with the behaviors we engage in every day.Â
That means you — yes, you — have the power to help people experience better health!Â
Because if you can help them change their habits, you can help them change their lives.Â
To be honest, it’s pretty easy. Here at Full Plate Living, our nonprofit has done all of the heavy lifting for you.
Get Facilitator Materials for FreeOur Group Program Teaches Participants How To:
- Feel better
- Boost energyÂ
- Lose weight
- Get their “health numbers” under control
- Manage blood sugar
- Live longer
- Experience more joy in life
- And so much more
Pretty cool, right? Almost unbelievable. Yet thousands of past participants attest to every one of those amazing benefits. (You can hear their stories here.)
Want to know how we do it?
The foundation of our approach can be summed up in three powerful words:Â
Eat. More. Fiber.
Our program shows you how to do this in the most fun, delicious way possible — by chowing down on foods from your local grocery store!Â
Over the course of eight sessions, participants will learn which fiber foods are useful for health and weight loss…
AND…which fiber foods are phonies created by manufacturers.Â
That’s only the beginning.Â
We also talk about:
- Finding the motivation to make healthy changes
- Getting your family onboard
Breaking the cycle of emotional eating - Eating at restaurants
- Creating health habits that stick
- Dealing with cravings
- And truly so much more
“What will I be doing as a facilitator?”
Great question.Â
Being a facilitator basically comes down to 4 things:
- You’ll invite people to participate in the program, which can be hosted online or in-person.Â
- You’ll secure a meeting space (again, this could be a room at your church or community center, your living room, or a Zoom room).
- You’ll lead people through the eight lessons by either reading from the facilitator guide script or using the available powerpoint presentation. Don’t like reading out loud? You can even ask someone else in the group to do it!
- You’ll foster a warm, encouraging environment where people can be honest, feel seen, and — just like a toddler learning how to walk — take clumsy steps toward better health that will become stronger and more confident with practice.Â
Is that really it? Yes! But if you’re an overachiever, we see you. Most of us are overachievers too. 🙂 We have a free, optional Facilitator Training that will help you run your program with more confidence and skill. You can learn more about that here if you want to.
Is It Worth It?Â
Absolutely. Here are what a few of our past facilitators have to say:
"I loved how interactive it was and how it got people talking. Lots of great conversation and suggestions on ways to add more fiber. We had a number of participants bring in recipes/dishes for everyone to taste. There were a number of participants who lost weight. Also, it encouraged participants to make other changes as well like adding exercise."
–Alison Cronk, Community Health Educator
"I love the Full Plate Living approach! It’s easy to follow and has proven benefits. "
–Holly Rayko Murphy, MA, MPH, CWP: Manager, Health and Wellness Programs
"Full Plate Living is amazing! It's a detailed, evidenced-based program that focuses on so many facets of diet/lifestyle change, not just nutrition, although this is a key part of the curriculum. I really appreciate the content around positive mindset/goal setting. Most importantly, FPL does NOT require me to re-invent the wheel to do the actual program! Incredibly, the materials are FREE, which has allowed me to get the program up and running without financial barriers as I work in an FQHC."
– Asha Subramanian, MD, MPH
