Recipe: Smoky Cumin and Paprika Chickpeas

beans recipe
A bowl of roasted chickpeas seasoned with smoky paprika and cumin.

These warmly spiced chickpeas deliver bold flavor with every bite. They’re seasoned with savory spices like cumin and smoked paprika, which add more flavor to any dish. Since chickpeas are packed with plant-based protein and fiber, they support steady energy and digestive health. These can be roasted for a slight crunch or sauteed for a softer texture.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

2 - 15 ounce cans chickpeas, no salt added or low sodium
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon avocado oil

Directions

Preheat oven to 400°F. Drain, rinse, and pat dry the chickpeas to absorb as much moisture as possible. Discard any loose skins from the chickpeas. In a large mixing bowl, toss chickpeas, spices, and oil together until well coated. Transfer the chickpeas to a baking sheet and spread evenly. Roast the chickpeas for 15 minutes or until desired tenderness. Store in an airtight container once cooled.

Recipe Modification

Swap out spices for ones you have on hand, like garlic powder or chili powder, for an extra kick.
